When it comes to air travel, there is nothing worse than arriving at the airport early, only to find a long line of people snaking through the corridor waiting to go through the security checkpoint.
And don’t even mention returning from a relaxing vacation in the Caribbean to find the customs line a mile long and moving at a snail’s pace.
But don’t worry, these top tools will help make navigating the airport a breeze!
TSA Precheck is an expedited security program for travelers who are deemed low-risk by the Transportation Security Administration. Once accepted, you can go through specially designated security lines, which often move much faster than the standard lanes.
PreCheck passengers do not have to remove their shoes or belts. They also do not have to remove laptops or liquids from their bags.
Fee for PreCheck
There is a nonrefundable application fee of $85 for a 5-year membership. You can find more information on how to apply for TSA PreCheck here.
Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. Global Entry provides the benefits of TSA Precheck plus faster U.S. customs screening for international travelers arriving at U.S. airports.
Global Entry members skip the long customs lines and proceed to self-service kiosks to complete fingerprint verification and customs declaration. The kiosk issues the traveler a transaction receipt and directs the traveler to baggage claim and the exit.
Fee for Global Entry
There is a nonrefundable application fee of $100 for a 5-year membership (TSA PreCheck is included.) Learn more about Global Entry here.
Mobile Passport Control
Mobile Passport Control provides a more efficient in-person inspection between the CBP officer and the traveler. The traveler performs administrative tasks before the passport control inspection, and therefore, mobile passport control reduces inspection time and overall wait times.
MPC is a partnership program that provides authorized mobile apps to streamline a traveler’s entry into the United States. Eligible travelers can download a free authorized application from Google Play or the Apple Store.
