Pack your suitcases, palm tree lovers, because today we are going to discover the US Virgin Islands and have some fun in the sun!
There are four main islands in the US Virgin Islands, and all have a natural beauty that draws you in with the promise of white sandy beaches, turquoise blue waters, and romantic island-hopping trips. Indeed the US Virgin Islands delivers all that and much more. Here are some of the remarkable places you can expect to discover during your vacation to the US Virgin Islands.
St. Croix
You will have plenty of gorgeous beaches to enjoy in St Croix, including Rainbow Beach and Pelican Cove Beach. Lazy afternoons to sunbathe, swim and sip tropical drinks are waiting for you and a great way to kick off your holiday of a lifetime.
There are two towns in St. Croix. Christiansted is the largest town and features a boardwalk you can stroll along, stopping at lovely boutiques, restaurants, and bars overlooking the water.
Frederiksted is charming too, and you can see colorful and well-preserved historic buildings, including Victorian houses and old churches. A walking tour of Frederiksted is a great way to see the beautiful township, Fort Frederik, and the charming pier.
If you love snorkeling or scuba diving, you won’t want to miss a day trip to Buck Island. There is an underwater trail around the big reef abundant with sea life, and there are signs to direct you along the way.
After all that exploring, you deserve a cool rum punch. It will surely be on the menu at your favorite beach bar!
St. Thomas
Known as the gateway to the US Virgin Islands, St Thomas is home to stunning beaches, historic architecture, and sensational water activities, including snorkeling, diving, and swimming.
Fort Christian is worth a visit, and so is the Pirates Treasure Museum, me hearties! You never know what gold you might discover there. There are museums, classic houses, and beachfront restaurants to explore on this pretty tropical paradise island.
Without a doubt, the hammock at your luxury resort will become your favorite place to enjoy leisurely afternoon naps but don’t be late for cocktails at sunset because that is one of the best parts of the day.
Here you will get your duty free shopping fix, so make sure to have save some space in your ‘case!
St. John
St. John is a small island but don’t underestimate this gem of a location. Half the island is a national park and home to many wonders of nature, such as cuckoos, lizards, parrots, dolphins, warblers, and hummingbirds. Nature lovers will be overjoyed at all the sights.
You will undoubtedly wake up to bird song and maybe even find a turtle on the front lawn of your luxury beachfront villa if you spend a few nights in St John.
Find your zen place with lots of hiking, beach walks, kayaking, horseback riding, and lazing on the sandy shores. Cruz Bay, the main town in “Love City” (as locals affectionately call their home), is a quaint place to roam around and do some shopping, enjoy local food and people watch.
Water Island
Water Island is another charming spot where you can soak up the sun, take in the abundant natural surroundings, converse with the locals, and indulge in fresh seafood and cocktails. This is the island you head to if you really want to get away from it all.
Just a 10-15 minute water taxi ride from St. Thomas, Water Island is the newest of the US Virgin Islands and also the smallest. Less than 200 people live on the island and many of them are only part-timers, making this remote hideaway the perfect escape. Rent a golf cart and spend your day exploring abandon forts, hiking nature trails, combing Limestone Beach for shells or sipping cocktails and snorkeling at Honeymoon Bay.
Whatever island you choose, there is so much to discover in the US Virgin Islands. If you are ready to start planning your tropical escape, send me a message, I would love to help.
