Best Tropical Beach Bars

Tropical Beach Bars

It is thirsty work swimming, snorkeling, shopping, sighting, and having heaps of fun in the sun. If only you knew where to go for the perfect tropical cocktail. Good news, I’ve thought ahead and curated a list of the best tropical beach bars just for you.

And more importantly, I’ve alerted the bartender that you are on your way! The first round is on me!

The British Virgin Islands

In the British Virgin Islands, I have to mention the world-famous Soggy Dollar Bar on White Bay, Jost Van Dyke.

Soggy Dollar Bar

The Painkiller is poured to perfection at the Soggy Dollar Bar because this is where this rum-fueled drink was invented way back in the 70s. Of course, you might have to swim to the bar for it if you arrive by boat (hence the name – your dollars are soggy when you arrive).

US Virgin Islands

Abi Beach Bar

Abi Beach Bar on St Thomas is another bar that you can only access by diving into the water from your boat and swimming to shore. The rustic bar with blue wooden decor is a place you can chill all afternoon. They serve up excellent food and drinks and it has the most tropical beach bar vibe you could dream of.

Grab a kayak and snorkeling gear available from the bar for hire if you need to cool off.

Jamaica

Calico Jack’s Pirate Shack

Jamaica and beach bars go together like sun and surf. There are so many great Jamaican beach bars and you are guaranteed to always have a great time.

I have to give the biggest thumbs up to Calico Jack’s Pirate Shack in Negril. There are pirates, parrots, and Jamaican-style lobster there, as well as cocktails to enhance the experience even more. It’s nestled on its own little island near 7 Mile Beach, and you catch a water taxi to get there. Bottom’s up mateys.

El Chiringuito, Costa Rica

Costa Rica

I knew instantly that El Chiringuito was a beach bar to rival the best in Costa Rica. Cool beers, fruity cocktails, fresh tapas, and seafood dining with your toes in the sand sounds like the perfect way to spend an afternoon or evening if you ask me.

The Playa Tamarindo bar and restaurant has a chic white wooden interior with Spanish tunes playing in the background. Their coffee has quite a delicious kick too.

Dominican Republic

El Mosquito Art Bar

El Mosquito Art Bar is so unique and quirky, and the staff also matches the fun vibe.

There’s the artwork to appreciate and the cocktail menu, which some creative concoctions exclusive to the bar, as well as your favorite mojitos and daiquiris. A beautiful beach is just meters away from the bar stools, which are all under the shade of gorgeous palm trees.

Mexico

Gitano Beach, Tulum

I found my happy place at Gitano Beach in Tulum. This upmarket funky beach bar always seems to turn a few drinks into a party. Due to the gorgeous surroundings and upbeat atmosphere, people always decide to have just one more Gypsy Disco 75 for the road. I also love the stylish black sun loungers shaded by the tent-style umbrellas.

The cocktails are always flowing in the Caribbean, and you can be sure of tropical flavors, icy cool servings, and generous pours. I say cheers to that!

Cocktails taste better with a view
